Meh, I don't like the Xingese crew anyway. Especially Fuu and Mei. Bleh.

@lian: Well, for a lot of people, myself included, it's not the blood relationship that makes sibling incest squicky as much as the nature of the relationship itself. Like, say Ed and Al turned out to not be related to one another at all - I'd still label it incest because they grew up with one another and grew up regarding each other as brothers. The argument goes that since Ed and Winry grew up so close to one another that they may as well be siblings. I can kinda see it, but at the same time I don't, if that makes any sense XD; Like, I'd be kinda squicked to be in a romantic relationship with someone who has known me since I was in diapers, yanno? But it's all relative...and oh my god I swear I did not mean to make that pun and I apologize profusely.
But yes. You can't argue that it's "just a sibling relationship" to kill a ship in THIS fandom xDDDDDD
For Roy/Ed and Elricest subtext in anime v1 - there's a big list somewhere but I'm too lazy to find it, so I'll just go with the trump cards:
"I want to FEEL you again, Brother! The warmth of your body!" Take it as innocent or not, but lemme tell you that many eyebrows were raised at that line, including non-Elricesters.
And Roy emoing it up in the snow in Russia DRACHMA in CoS - "I don't think Hakweye is the one he's waiting for." -eyebrow wiggle-
Anyway yeah. I've heard people say the movie art reminds them of Miyazaki. I could live with that. An homage to Miyazaki through FMA? I could definitely live with that. And I guess I'm not too surprised that it's not post-manga, because...well, because it'd feel weird, a manga-based ending not written by Arakawa, y'know? Plus, there's not a lot they could really do that would sell well in theaters though I'd still kill for Al's Adventures In Xing.
NO WORRIES ABOUT BEING NEGATIVE. THIS IS DISCUSSION! WE MUST DISCUSS! POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE! THIS IS THE CAPSLOCK TECHNIQUE THAT HAS BEEN PASSED DOWN THROUGH THE ARMSTRONG FAMILY FOR GENERATION!

^ Good point, though, Winry would have never been as close to Ed as a child as Al was (even if they were the closest friends ever.) And the more puns, the better! :D
Oh God, I can imagine the VAs either making jokes about the lines they had to say or acting really embarrassed about those lines.
I'm still glad it's not live action, though. The only live-action I would be able to stand would be a kung-fu movie, starring Ling and Ed. Can you not tell that I am obsessed with Xing? Hahaha.

Well, they just put up Ed and Al's character designs for the movie on the website. Ed looks like his earlier manga self, but the art is pretty good looking. 'Course, can't really tell till we see more of it in motion, but here you go! www.hagaren-movie.net/#/character

Oh hey! -randomly jumps in a mentions thoughts- I was really excited when I first heard they were going to make another movie but after watching the trailer... meh. This is probably a good thing because the last three movies I've seen I thought I wasn't going to be impressed by but I ended up loving. It just looks weird to me, even for anime standards. I'm slightly worried because FMA is such a huge franchise they could just half-ass it and still get boatloads of money. It makes me sad I hope it'll be as awesome as I want it to be. I was also disappointed it wasn't a sequel. I'm so curious about what happened while the brothers were off on their journeys and my mind won't fill it in. I need fan fiction. Anyway, carry on ;D
