gyao.yahoo.co.jp/p/00548/v09879/THIS IS NOT A DRILL! I REPEAT, THIS IS NOT A DRILL!!! Hehe. Sorry. In all seriousness, this is the promotional poster for the new animated FMA movie, titled 'Fullmetal Alchemist: The Sacred Star of the Wailing Hill Apparently a trailer will be released soon too. So! Discuss. I personally think that it looks pretty cool. I'm sad its not a sequel, but the animation looks awesome, and hell, I'm just happy for more FMA.

Sounds exciting, although I can't read all that Japanese so I have no idea what it says XD

I can't read it either! TELL US MORE.
It'd be fun to see a sequel, (human!Al! He's so cute! Do want!) but I'm not sure what kind of plot they could use. Once you've saved the whole country, that's tough to beat. xD A random mid-plot side-story would be just as fun.

But it isn't going to be live-action, right? RIGHT?
AND WHAT IS IT GOING TO BE ABOUT. WHAT COULD IT POSSIBLE BE ABOUT. THIS CONFUSES ME.

Because 1) I like your pants 2) I like Ed's pants 3) I like Ed's ass 4) The poster is likable 5) I'm trying to distract myself from a Hiromu interview in which she stated she wanted to make a live action movie. >.> I forget where I saw this, but it's true.

To assure everyone, no it is NOT live action. Arakawa did that interview ages ago; truthfully, if it was done right it would be awesome, but that's beside the point. This is animated, and we'll probably be getting more info in a few weeks.

I was a bit excited about this movie thing, but after seeing the title and that weird-looking poster thingy...meh, I dunno. Not to rain on anyone's parade or anything, but it sounds really, really weird...and I'm not thrilled that it's filler. I was hoping we'd get a post-Promised Day adventure. =/ But I'm not going to make any firm judgments on it until we get more info, obviously. It's not fair to cut it down before giving it a chance, at least.
And I really don't understand why everyone is so against a live-action adaptation of FMA. I mean seriously...no one thought Peter Jackson could pull off Lord of the Rings. But he did. Why should FMA be any different? In the right hands at the right time, with people who genuinely care about it, it could be mind-blowingly awesome. Maybe even as epic as LotR was. I'm totally with Arakawa. I can't WAIT for someone to take it to the silver screen. *daydreams about an FMA movie quintet...*
Now Japanese live-action...THAT I can understand being worried about. Ed with an asian face is...no. Just no. Amestris is FAR too European for anyone to get away with that. Leave the asian stuff to Ling, plz...

Leave the asian stuff to Ling, plz... Yes, no, that cannot happen. I understand that it's a Japanese manga/anime but it just. Wouldn't work. At all. Does anyone remember that extra when Arakawa said that if there was a live action, Ed would be played by Mame Yamada or Neko Hiroshi? (for the record, I'm pretty sure they're both midgets)

THE POSTER. I cannot see it. D:
Anyway, I can see how a live-action FMA would be spectacular... or how it could go spectacularly wrong, but I think it would be awesome if they pulled a Rebuild of Evangelion and made the entire series into about four animated movies. *o* Imagine FMA with that kind of budget...

TRAILER TRAILER TRAILER!!!! www.hagaren-movie.net/Its not very long, but I also got a translation of the introduction, thanks to amber1003 on deviantart. Here it is: "Finally, the forbidden story of bond is told. It ended in June 2010 and the accumulated total of series was over 50 million copies, "Fullmetal Alchemist" drawn by Arakawa Hiromu. Elric brothers who committed a taboo, the original manga which depicted their pitiless journey and the whereabouts of their soul on on a magnificent scale called forth an echo. Also, TV animation which was aired in accordance with the ending of manga is still fresh in our minds. That "Fullmetal Alchemist" appears on a screen in summer 2011 again. The director, Kazuya Murata (The series of "CODE GEASS Lelouch of the Rebellion") and character designer and chief key animation supervisor, Kenichi Konishi ("Tokyo Godfathers") are received as the new staff, in addition, the movie brings in Yuichi Shinpo who is the novelist and known for "Whiteout" etc as the screenwriter. Studio Bones engages in creation of anime as well as previous series, and "Fullmetal Alchemist The sacred star on Wailing Hill (Miros)" will be delivered with the scale just like the movie. Edward Elric and his young brother, Alphonse - they were still on the middle of journey with being tossed about by fateful waves... The story of bond which is finally told rises the curtain here now." Oh, they've also confirmed the VAs for Ed, Al, Winry, Roy, and Riza; they'll be the same as in Brotherhood. Okay, a couple of my thoughts. The art style is interesting. Even though its a little like the old series, its not as similar as everyone is saying; I think its rather pretty, and it flows in an interesting way. Until I hear what it is really about and see a longer trailer, I can't say what I think of the storyline- but I'm excited that Winry will be in it. Your thoughts?

DUUUUUDE. I'm sad we don't get to see more of growed-up Al (because DANG, kid, puberty treated ya well *A*) but whatever, MORE FMA. Also I still don't know what they could have done for a post-series story, other than go the nextgen route.
FYEAH to Romi and Rie reprising their roles once more! I admit, if they weren't in the movie, I...probably wouldn't want to watch it. Here's why:
Anime movies that have nothing to do with the storyline generally suck, in my experience. CoS at least had the decency to follow-up the series, instead of just be OMG FILLER VILLAINS WE NEVER SEE AGAIN AND BIG DRAMATIC EVENTS NEVER MENTIONED AGAIN. All flair, no substance.
Hokay. So we've got MOTHERFUCKING WEREWOLF and BAT-WOMAN-LADY-THINGS, and some dude throwing water or ice or something - ISAAC IS THAT YOU :/ Basically, this is a movie that will have nothing to do with anything and it's gonna try pretty damn hard to be all flashy and cool while doing it. Idunno. I'll wait to make my final judgments until there's a longer trailer, but for now...eh.
What do you guys think of the art style? Not entirely sure about it...kind of more Western, almost. Interesting.
ALSO, MUSIC. Did anyone catch who will be composing the music? The music in the trailer didn't sound like Akira Senju's style at all...
