Random story:
At Office Ghetto where I work, we sell pens. As such, there are scratchpads by the pens so you can test them. Yesterday I noticed someone had written: "Jesus is coming, prepare to repent for your sins" on the pad.

So, I took a pen, and promptly added to the message, so that it now reads: "BEE Jesus is coming, someone alert Nezushi!" I also wrote BEEEEEES in big letters near the top.

I've lost control of my life.

I'm trying to actually go to bed at a sane time tonight, so just two for now, and I will bring the rest of my wondrously goodfic-populated reclist at a later time, assuming I survive my first college assignment which I will be spending my entire weekend on, sobbing morosely over my $200 Bio textbook!

BUT FOR NOW:

-Sad rec: A time for everything. Complete with three chapters and 16k words, slightly AUish because the author wrote this before they knew how No. 6 ended, beware of adult content.

If you don't cry/feel like crying, I don't know what to think of you. This fic tore my heart out. It's beautifully written and brutally sad, but in a sense bittersweet. There's a reason this story has 105 reviews for three chapters.

-Happy rec to cheer you up after that: On This Happy Occasion of Master Taking a Bride. Complete oneshot of around 3k words, but you'll wish there was more. Slice of life, T rated, so sweet your teeth will fall out.

Basically instead of being robot mice, Hamlet, Cravat, and Tsukiyo are orphaned kiddos that Nezumi takes care of, and then Nezumi rescues Shion ala canon and they all play house. It is SOPRECIOUS *A*

THE LAST EPISODE WAS SUPER RUSHED. I've got a translation of the novel ending posted on the previous page - it wraps things up much better. Bah. I am DYING to read the novels, but they're not officially translated and the fan translations aren't finished yet. I WANT TO LEARN JAPANESE SO I CAN READ THEM. SERIOUSLY. The more I read about them, the more I learn how very little the anime got to touch upon. The novels include much more of the darker side of Nezumi and Sion's relationship, me fucking gusta @_@ There's something really appealing in the dysfunctional codependency thing they've got going on. And all the interviews with the author I've read are fascinating and just make me really want to know more about her, she seems awesome. Like Arakawa-level awesome. I am so okay with having more awesome lady writer idols to worship.

With Dogkeeper/Inukashi - IDEK MAN. It's never clarified in the novels. Some interpret that scene in episode 9 to be proof that Inukashi is a girl (Sion realizing it during their hug) and some interpret it as proof that Inukashi is a boy (Sion just realizing how young Inukashi is during that hug.) My personal headcanon is that hey, if Inukashi was raised by a dog, they didn't grow up with gender norms/traditional gender identities, so it'd make most sense for them to ID as genderqueer (re: not restricted to the gender binary of male/female. Some genderqueer people are androgynous/both male and female, some have no gender, some are very fluid between male and female gender expressions and everything inbetween. Inukashi I see as having no defined gender identity.) Most genderqueer people I know prefer they/them pronouns; some of them go by zie/zir but they/them is a good default until you know their preferences.

GUYS. GUYS. So I've been thinking. (uh oh.) We need to compile a sort of No. 6 Recovery Kit. Because I'm talking people I know on other sites into watching it and I've already made one cry over the ending, and then I had to scramble to find all the comfort/funny/fluffy things that I used to get over it. It would be nice if I had a handy list of links I could give people.

So far I've got:
- The official "reunite and be together" art
- The ending of the novel (complete with "it's a kiss of oath, we'll surely meet again" line)
- The "after filming the final episode" comic

^ The fandom's pretty awesome. It turns out gorgeous fanart and has minimal fanwars. I'm only familiar with the fandom on tumblr, but it was always pretty cool aside from the occasional hissy fits about Safu or anti-NezuShi bitching. Honestly, it's one of the coolest, most chilled out fandoms I've seen in awhile.
