I agree, I think child services is the only option. Even if it's a risk, it's a risk worth taking for the sake of the kids. One person by themselves can't fix a situation like that.

So there's this teacher in my school that's reviled by most of the student body. Anyone who's ever taken her classes and wasn't one of her "favorites" frequently talks about how she believes that she's always right despite all evidence to the contrary and harshly grades any paper that doesn't coincide exactly with her viewpoint. Unfortunately for me, she's the only teacher that teacher AP Lit for my grade, and my mother was staunchly against me taking Honors Lit for some reason.

I have had one class with the woman, and she made me nearly have a breakdown.

I had to force myself to not cry in class.

The stories about her never letting opposing viewpoints survive are true. What's more, when she's lecturing you about what an awful person you are for having a separate opinion from hers, she uses the most patronizing tone I have ever heard to explain in detail why you're an idiot for ever considering that something about another culture is bad, because it's just part of their culture and we can't possibly hope to understand them.

I don't deal well with people calling me stupid. I either snap or break down into tears. Fortunately, I managed to stay relatively calm. Unfortunately, the school's current no-switching policy doesn't have an exception for when a student is about to have a breakdown because the teacher makes her feel like an idiot.

My parents are going to try and get me switched out of the class, but I'm not sure if it'll work. I really really hope it does, because I don't want to have another incident like what happened my freshman year.

You know, if you and your mother had listened to me, seeing as almost all of my friends took that class while I was off happily taking honours lit...

deCastro's a bitch and there's nothing you can do about her. Unfortunately, the honours class is kind of a joke right now with the teacher, apparently and most of them are probably full what with no one with any bit of intelligence wanting to be in CP because they've meshed it with applied. My lit and math classes are so packed that if we didn't have assigned seats in math, I wouldn't be able to find one, and I need to get to lit early to find a seat.

This is why you (and your mother) need to listen to people who have taken classes that you are about to take. Because if you had? None of this would have happened.
(Also guys, that class? Two people aced. With 95%s.)
Tell your mother to consider that maybe the people whose opinions she doesn't deem valid because their GPAs fall below a 94 might be that way because of classes that we warned you not to take, especially not at the same time.

And honestly for everything I can say about Hunter, he is really intelligent, and deCastro practically made him cry every single day, according to just about everyone who was in that class. That's why he skipped and spent so much time in the theatre.
Good luck switching out, though, and DEAR LORD, do not bitch to me if you need to drop something else (unless it's AP calc at which point I'll just laugh at Andres still being stuck there) because everyone I know warned you against taking her class.

I went to France in April, and my host... well, all we had in common was that we both liked Harry Potter (even then, she liked Gryffindors, I like Ravenclaws and Slytherins); she's an athlete who's into biology, I'm a theatre nerd who's into physics. It's two completely incompatible people.
HOWEVER.
She was really nice to me, and I was really nice to her, even going so far as to hang out with people who I frankly can't stand (it was like a "HEY! LET'S SEE WHO HELLE HATES AND PUT THEM WITH HER HOST'S FRIENDS!" party or some shit), and, aside from the basic incompatibility, I feel like we got along, if only on a basic level.
It wasn't like we hated each other or anything; we just had very little in common.
SO IN OCTOBER they kids we stayed with are coming here and in June I was told that I can't host because the girl I stayed with (Eva) didn't want to stay with me. Well, wait, first I was told that I wouldn't be hosting Eva, BUT I could host someone else. And then later on, I was told that I wasn't allowed to host ANYONE.

Okay. WHAT. THE. FUCK.
I wrote to Eva a week or so ago and she responded today saying that, yes, like I'd said, it was that we had practically nothing in common, that she wouldn't have minded staying with me, and that she still wants to see me when she's here.

BUT APPARENTLY the school is turning it like I'm some HORRIBLE person for being INCOMPATIBLE with someone else.
When, um, apparently, the compatibility questionnaires that we had to fill out WERE NOT RECIEVED IN FRANCE WHEN WE WERE MATCHED.
And frankly, most of my friends got really shitty matches.
My one friend is... actually pretty normal. Kind of quiet, enjoys watching football but doesn't really like phys ed, likes music but not really into it, you know, fairly normal guy (I guess).
His match was this almost-emo kid who did gymnastics and listened to hardcore.
This other girl I know is SUPER nice but quiet and rather reserved; she's in band and she lives basically in the middle of nowhere (our area is largely rural), and she loves animals and horses and stuff.
Her girl lived in a tiny apartment in town and the only thing they had in common was that they both liked music. Most teenagers like music. That's NOTHING.
And then this girl who I frankly can't stand is terrified of horses and HER host lived on a horse farm (I am not defending McKinnon because she's a bitch and ignored her girl the entire time when her girl was VERY sweet; but still, the MATCHING).

Evil bitchy girl is going to some early college program (I have no idea how she got in; she's a freaking idiot), but I don't think she would have been allowed to host.
QUIET BAND GIRL IS NOT ALLOWED TO HOST. She was the singularly nicest person on the ENTIRE TRIP.
And my guy friend thinks his emo kid has a crush on him and is coincidentally getting his wisdom teeth taken out that week.

BUT COME ON.

Because the matching was SHIT and some people actually CARED, the AMERICANS are getting blamed for it and punished for NOT HAVING SOMETHING IN COMMON WITH PEOPLE THEY BARELY KNOW?

...I just. I don't even know.
My dad is PISSED and is fighting the school about this, and what I don't get is the teacher over here.
The one girl and I were talking today. We BOTH know things that went on during that trip that, were the administration made aware of it, would result in the END of the program. So I don't get why we're being treated like this when we have a SHITLOAD of blackmail.

...Honestly, the only reason I HAVEN'T done that is because I'm only pissed at the teachers, not the other kids.

So today I got put into ensemble for our fall play.

This sort of pisses me off than not getting cast would. (Yet not as much as getting a large role would).

I mean, now I have to stay after school for the next month doing a whole bunch of shit for this show when I don’t even have a line, or, frankly, care all that much. I mean. I am performing in theatre with my class for stuff, but still.

This wouldn’t be as infuriating if I didn’t have so much homework. I can handle it now, but i know that now it’s going to fuck me up, and for what? Wearing a fancy dress (if that) and walking onstage and not speaking?

What’s worse is that I can’t help but feel that the only reason I got put into ensemble was because I was sick for pretty much the duration of our last play. However, Skye got “OHMYGOD DON’T WORRY WE DON’T BLAME YOU” and I got “I DON’T CARE IF YOU CAN’T WALK OR TALK, YOU NEED TO BE HERE!” (when I was practically ensemble in that piece, too)

…and of course Hunter and Triever got the lead roles. Of course. I mean, not that it affects me, but still. They’ve gotten lead roles since I’ve been in theatre.

AND I REALLY don't want to be the bitch that says "I don't have a speaking part so fuck this" but I really don't think it's worth potentially flunking my classes when I don't have a line and pretty much everyone in theatre hates each other, anyway.
