Guess what? The Second Annual Secret Gate Baby Equivalent Gift Exchange is BACK!!

The rules are simple. It's basically a Secret Santa event, except we're all Secret Gate Babies instead. You sign up here and fill out the survey below to help Crow and I match you up to another member. After you've been assigned your giftee, you make them presents! You'll make five gifts in total. Four of these will be posted anonymously by Crow and I, the last (and best) gift you save to post on the last day of gift-giving, thus revealing yourself to your Secret Gate Baby and much joy is had. =D We had a great time last year and hope it will be just as enjoyable again!

RULES:

1. If you agree to participate, please see the event through to the end. Don't drop out halfway through and leave your giftee without anything to look forward to. (Barring emergencies of course. Should one come up, contact me or Crow when you can and we'll work something out.)
2. The gifts DO NOT have to be fancy. Don't let fear of a lack of artistic talent hold you back. The fifth day is the day that the "best" gifts will be exchanged so it's perfectly fine to go a little extra-out for that day, but otherwise we want to keep things fair and simple. We all have busy lives, and they always get busier during the holidays. A sketch or doodle, a quick one-shot ficlet, a couple icons, etc, are perfect examples of simple but fun gifts.
3. The gifts have to be original in some way. Finding the person a cute picture or good fic online isn't enough. You have to personalize them at least a little bit, whether with funny captions, commentary, or anything else you can think of!
4. Please be respectful. No telling someone that you hate your gifts, that they weren't good enough, etc. You guys are all awesome so I don't foresee any problems here. ^^

TENTATIVE TIME FRAME: Depending on how long it takes for more people to sign up, you will hopefully receive the name of your giftee sometime around November 20th. The deadline for gifts is the 24th of December, the first four of which will be e-mailed to me or Crow, depending on who gave you your assignment. YOU MUST HAVE FOUR GIFTS TO US BY THEN. Crow and I will begin posting the gifts on Monday, December 27th. Your fifth/best gift you'll hold on to until the 31st, when you will post it yourself, thus revealing yourself as the Secret Gate Baby to your giftee. On December 31st/January 1st there will be an epic all-night New Years Celebration chat party that will start in the afternoon US-time on the 31st and end at fun o’clock on the 1st. (Basically, whenever the last person there decides to go to bed. xD) (A proper time-chart, complete with actual start-times and the conversions for those in various time zones will be posted when we get nearer to the event.)

This is only a PROPOSED time frame and is subject to change. If you know for a fact that you’ll have scheduling conflicts but you want to participate, let Crow or I know and we’ll adjust it to suit everyone as best we can. We want as many people to join in as possible, so don't be afraid to ask!

Free talk: OOCness and non-canon-ness in the name of crack is awesome and totally loved, (flouncy Envy, overly-gay Alfons, overly-emotional Ed, cat-crazy Al Wait, that's not OOC, etc.), and I'd prefer that things lean toward a more lighthearted side. Cross-overs are great, especially if crossed with Yugioh in some way. If you can incorporate Yugioh or Puzzleshipping into a gift somehow I will love you forever. Likewise if you make Dramaverse references. Other cross-over ideas include Avatar:TLA, Danny Phantom, Silver Diamond, Hetalia (especially if you can include Canada somehow) and Mythbusters.


CROW'S:

For crossovers, potential fandoms are the same as last year's: Harry Potter, Buffy the Vampire Slayer/Angel, Firefly, Danny Phantom, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Good Omens, and Animorphs (if you can make it work, ETERNAL LOVE) Random accidental movie divergence dimension hopping via the Gate is fine, as it's my favorite plot device and I have no shame so you shouldn't either :B

ALSO ALSO ALSO EDITING TO ADD TO MINE - THE MOST SPECIFIC REQUEST EVER: I want post-movie Ed, Al, and Alfons (he lives!) fic where they move to New York to escape Thule supporters and police in Germany. I want gooshy bantery HeiEd with a thoroughly embarrassed but grudgingly approving Al. I want hurt/comfort because Fonsy's lungs are still fuggin' disintegrating. Bonus points if they live in Greenwich Village.

AND THEN I WANT THEM TO BECOME MEN IN BLACK AND WORK TOGETHER AS AN AWESOME ALIEN-FIGHTING TRIO. Ed and Al somehow get their alchemy back - don't care how, alien magic or whatever - and Fonsy gets his lungs fixed. Actually that's what prompted them to join up in the first place- tech that can fix Alfons. And it doesn't matter for Ed and Al if everyone in the world but Alfons forgets them, and Alfons is on the run 'cos of working for Thule but there would still be angst that his name doesn't go down in history (but dude, ROCKETS.)

CLEARLY I HAVE PUT TOO MUCH THOUGHT INTO THIS. But oh my god, I want to see this, but I don't trust myself to write it, at the very least finish writing the damn thing. I don't really expect to get it, but if I do, I'll probably start coughing up blood myself in my excitement. Lungs aren't made for that level of squealing.


NEOEEVEE'S:
Preferred pairings: EdWin, Royai, AlMei, LingFan, EdHei. Also, crossover ships. The crackier the better.
Preferred characters: None in particular.
Pairings you DO NOT WANT: Feel free to go all out on aforementioned crossover crack ships, but inside the FMA fandom I'd prefer to stick to the aforementioned five. ^^;
Squicks: Nothing that would warrant more than a PG-13 rating, or that I wouldn't be able to read at school without drawing weird looks.
Squees: Wingfic, CROSSOVERS, Magical girls (or boys. Boys turned into girls via genderbending is a-okay too), AntennEds, fluff and cuddles, and breaking Ed's brain, be it by trauma or by Insane Troll Logic

Free talk: Anyone who can make a Digimon/FMA crossover, Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha/FMA crossover, or a Kingdom Hearts/FMA crossover (or any combination of those three + FMA): I WILL LOVE YOU FOREVER.


DEARHEART'S:
Preferred pairings: EDWIN, <333 AlMei, Royai, Trishenheim, Ling/RanFan, Izumi/Sig, Hughes/Gracia...all the boring canon ones. Oh, and also Denny/Maria. Because it's adorable. And semi-canon! I swear!
Preferred characters: The Golden Trio, Sheska (bookworms ftw), Mei, Izumi, Hughes, Roy and Riza.
Pairings you DO NOT WANT: Anything not mentioned in my preferred pairings. My canon purist brain might break otherwise.
Squicks: Anything perverted *coughELRICESTcough*, make-out scenes/lip-kissing (don't know why that bothers me; it just does. I do like hand/cheek/forehead kisses, though!), rape, abuse, torture, character deaths, OOCness (unless it's crack, obviously)...you get the idea.
Squees: Elric bromance, daddy!Edward, married!EdWin, fluffy AlMei (especially if it involves cats and other cute fuzzy pets), fluffy Denny/Maria, and crack with Kimblee x Philosopher's Stone. The one and only crack pairing my inner canon purist will allow me to love. xD
Preferred mediums: I love fan fiction, but fanart, AMVs, graphics and spaghetti sculptures are great, too! I'm easy to please!

Maximum rating: PG-13. I don't mind violence or a bit of language, but nothing too suggestive or sleazy, please! *is a prude*
What you will make: PG or a mild PG-13 is as far as I'll go. Fan fiction and AMVs are my specialties, but I can also do simple graphics and doodles; and I'm pretty good at writing poetry and fan music.
Free talk: I love me some drama and angst, but ONLY if there's happy fluffiness at the end. Anything with EdWin, Elric bromance or post-Promised Day/Elric family fluff will make me one happy little fangirl. Crack is great too, especially if it involves dysfunctional EdWin, my one true crack pairing, crossovers, Elric and Cullen fighting, Mary Sue bashing, or character quirks taken to extremes (like scary housewife!Izumi, angel!Hughes going picture-crazy, Elric Telepathy, Al and Mei becoming superheroes and teaming up to save all the stray cats and pandas, Sheska going book-crazy...or discovering Twilight...hee, that would be interesting...) As for crossovers...Lie to Me, Doctor Who, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy or Supernatural (aka "Ed and Al Ghostbusters") would be amazing...but I doubt anyone here knows what any of those shows are... >.<
