So, it's officially less than two months until the month of novel insanity begins! I've actually applied to become an ML for my region this year. =3 I hope more people get involved than last year. Last year was very solitary for this region.
Is anyone here besides me participating? What are your novels going to be about? Do you have a plot problem you need tips on before the big event? Babble here!

In the past I used this as a motivator to work on my main novel, but this year I may actually try to work on one of my other ideas. I'll go with one of these three I think: The Beauty of it All: Hannah is one of seven teenagers forced to undergo therapy and community service to avoid going to JUVI. Her crime? Trying to kill her father. Full Circle: When Lee finds the cat on her porch, she thinks nothing of it. Her little sister even convinces her mom to let them keep it. Her father's death has left them in a rut, and having something to take care of might help them out of it. One night she is shocked to see the cat transform before her very eyes- into a boy named Thomas who tells her of a curse from long ago. Shadow Man: They follow her, peeking from the shadows, speaking in whispering screams. They want her. When she is alone, they creep, trying to get into her skin. She doesn't know what they are, or why they want her, but the darkness has haunted her since she was five years old. No pills or therapy have worked, and she can't stand to be in total darkness, or to be left alone, lest the darkness consume her. And now as her eighteenth birthday approaches, the darkness grows more powerful, and no matter where she hides, no matter who she is with, she is no longer safe. Hopefully I'll really be able to buckle down and get a lot done for one of these. AND edit my book more too.

That... all depends on how my AP class turns out. I'll probably try it, but I doubt I'll finish because I never do.
Plot? Probably something about WWII and/or Germany. And physics. I might just reuse my failed script frenzy plot if I can find it. I had it all written out in a notebook somewhere with the characters and whatnot.

^ I admire you for trying it while in high school. I'm glad I only discovered NaNo after I got into college. xD
@ Bespecled: Ooh, those sound interesting! I really like Full Circle's premise, maybe because I have a Thing for transforming cats. x3
I'm trying to write up an interesting sounding synopsis for mine to put on the Nano site. (It doesn't help that suddenly the Edit Novel Info page is down. D< WTF.) I'm really distracted with a fanfic right now though and haven't been as excited about my NaNo idea as I'd like to be, so I'm hoping I'll re-find my excitement for it soon.

I just came up with a novel idea, so we'll see. I've never actually done it. And I just started college, so I don't know if I'll really have time. XD But everyone else seems to manage okay. I have a couple fanfics I'm working on--do those count? I haven't updated Fallen in like, two years. o.0 -beats self- I haven't come up with a title yet. Basically it's a Wizard-of-Oz type plot--three characters brought together in the dystopian underground city of District 94 are all wanting/needing something, and have been told that their above-ground "angels" will always provide for them. One of them is Em-Dash, a "blank gene" prototype human who escaped from a laboratory; another is Cicily, a girl impregnated with her own clone who seeks an abortion; and Keys, a propaganda specialist whose wife is denied healthcare due to their negligence in seeking a psychic. On their way to the surface, they encounter the "villain": a genderless, mutilated It who was once human but now refuses to be associated with them. It claims to have no desires or fears, because those are human qualities, and flits between helping people and slaughtering them. When forced to use language (which It rarely does, because words are for the weak) It says that a truly evil being does not seek anything but the destruction of All.

^ Oh wow, that story idea sounds pretty friggin awesome Tara. *_*
SCHOOLWORK IS FOR THE WEAK. NANO IS WHERE IT'S AT. (I'm just kidding please don't neglect your schoolwork. However if you have any free time at all you should do it, because Nano is best done at a hectic pace. It makes it more fun. x3 I did it while in college! It meant a lot of writing in the library and casually pulling up Google whenever anybody walked behind me so that they wouldn't see what I was writing. xD)

I actually signed up two years ago, but wasn't able to even start anything. *fails*
I don't know, maybe it'll work out this year. I do have a pretty good idea that I could probably work with, so we'll see.

^ IKR. Tara's idea makes mine look so silly and shallow in comparison. xD If anyone is wondering, here's my blurb for mine: Title: The Unforeseen Complications of Gravity
If Jesse’s parents had never gone skydiving:
They would still be alive. (Everyone, including the pilot and the owners of the building they had landed on, would be happy about that.)
He never would have moved to Philadelphia. (Or lost Reed, or met Remy, or wound up living in a warehouse with a three-legged cat for company for that matter.)
He never would have stolen that car. (1967 Shelby Mustang, mint condish. Keys sitting right there in the trunk lock. Could you blame him?)
He never would have met Alistair. (And good riddance anyway, someone who causes a person's heart to beat so abnormally can only be bad news.)
He never would have saved Alistair's life. (He'd rather not comment on that, except to say he hadn't been aware of Al's aforementioned ability to cause cardiac distress at the time.)
And he wouldn’t be dying of a assassin's bullet in a parking lot right now.
(All because he'd had to save the man he found bleeding to death in the trunk of the car he'd stolen in the city he'd only moved to with his foster family because his parents just had to choose to jump out of an airplane over two decades ago.)
Fucking gravity.

I actually just got the idea to write about these fake people characters I wrote back in freshman year. There's a group of them; I'd focus on Milo, who's adorable, awkward, but has a history of depression and tries to hide it and therefore doesn't fully trust or confide in any of his friends, and maybe Katy, who is bubbly, friendly, cheerful, and smart. But especially Milo because I'm still attached to him for some reason.
Which might just be a side-effect of the killer wave of nostalgia that hit me a while ago and is still making me actually contemplate calling one of my former friends (who is pretty much.... well, let's just say "the anti-Pluto", but yet she's a really good listener.)

I crashed and burned on my first NaNo last year, at 13k words. I was doing somewhat okay until I started working the after-school program, and then lolnope, I barely had time for basic hygiene, let alone writing my ULTIMATE MASTERPIECE ಠ_ಠ
What I failed to complete was the first book of a series I've been planning since 2006. If I'm not drowned by schoolwork this November - it's my first year of college and I'm starting with a really tough all-level course, I need to really focus on my work - I might retry the book I didn't finish last year, or maybe start on the second (Welcome to Nowhere II: Roll Over and Play Dead.)
Last year's book: Welcome to Nowhere I: It Came from British Columbia
There is no such thing as destiny. You can throw all the Fate you want at your predetermined Chosen One, but unless that poor sucker acts upon it, all that cosmic energy is wasted like so much spam email. A Hero can’t be forced into the position because at the end of the day, it’s their choice.
Whoever wrote the handbook forgot to tell David
-
The small Pacific Northwest town of Chinequi Bay exists on a weak spot between dimensions. The Weird Factor states: Weird attracts more Weird. Heavy concentrations of the supernatural distort the fabric of reality and, like a sinkhole in a mosh pit, draw more Weird into the center.
It’s 2007. In the year's decline, as the tentative boundaries between the natural and the supernatural continue to erode, something awakens at the bottom of the bay. Something that's been sleeping for a long, long time. Something powerful and very, very old.
Something old, and angry.
Someone really should have told David.
A few of the other ideas bouncing around in my head that I'll get more in detail about later, when I'm not half asleep and can respond to your guys's awesome ideas as well:
Mustard Fulfills Her Destiny The Were-Dyke Rides at Midnight Dead Mansion I: Reaper Wingwished I: Dragonfeathers The Reaper Chronicles Blue Skies It's You and the Goat Against the World
aaaand probably more I can't think of right now. ohman gotta drive 400 miles tomorrow time for sleep @_@

Eep, thanks. ^-^ And you guys shouldn't feel like yours are shallow--I tend to pull my story ideas out of my ass and most of the time I end up biting off more than I can chew. Puzzle: I love your blurb. XD It's full of personality! Is this gonna be a gay story?! xslytherclawx: Ooh, I wanna know more bout them. D: Crow: ...That's pretty unique. The concept behind a hero not acting on his destiny I mean, lol. XD

Tara: I actually have pretty well-developed personalities for all of them involved. I just... I don't know what time period it would span, because if it's all of high school I'd have to talk about Milo's first girlfriend who was my friend's character who I don't really know that well, but if I keep it senior year and above, there's not much of Katy and there's no Trevor, who I'm rather fond of, because he's an absolute obnoxious prick.
