FMA isn't the only fandom we frequent, after all. Share any fics you've come across and enjoyed! All fandoms welcome. =D I'll start with a Twilight fanfiction I discovered the other day and have to share with the world. Yes. That Twilight. No, I haven't had a lobotomy. This is a semi-anti one-shot Twilight fic that actually makes Edward Cullen somewhat likable. THE WORLD IS ENDING NOW, CLEARLY. In the author's own words: Author’s Notes: My attempt at a pro-life / pro-21st Century Twilight fanfic. Because I really hate the way the Cullens are so dismissive of modern life. Also, my attempt to give Edward a personality. Anti-Twilight overtones, but it’s not too glaring. There are also hints of one-sided slash, but it's very minor and practically irrelevant. There's also a bit of strong language in here! Rated PG-13 / T. Hope you enjoy!
Summary: Edward, and self-discovery. Bella taught him how to love, but his new college roommate may just be the one to teach him how to live. The twenty-first century, Edward is beginning to realise, is actually kind of…awesome.It's funny. It's British-ful. Caden gets to say all the things to Edward that we always wanted to. Also, the author completely refused to acknowledge the whole pedo-Jacob fiasco and ret-conned that right out of existence. Thank gods. Read it here.

Dumbledore's Army and the Year of DarknessIt's a Neville-centric fic that focuses on how the students at Hogwarts (specifically Neville) deal with the changes that were imposed while Harry was off looking for Horcruxes in the Deathly Hallows. It's fabulous, but it's dark - a fair bit darker than the original books, I think. It's twenty-four chapters with an epilogue, and 256,430 words. There are two sequels, neither of which I've read, and a number of companion fics on the author's profile here, where there are also links to artwork and an LJ comm. Yes, that's how fantastic this fic is. I swear this is canon. (Well, it could do without having Neville/Hannah, because I can't stand Hannah, but it's well done, at least). Read it even if you don't like Harry Potter.

I am always on the look out for good Harry Potter fanfiction (so much of it sucks!) that is is an awesome find! Hmm. Oh, here we go, here's a few: www.fanfiction.net/s/4559405/1/Crow_CourtCrow Court by Scribbler. If any of you are into Final Fantasy 7 (or even if you're not, because this rocks) check this out. It's a one shot for Tifa and Cloud's childhood, and shows the depths of their 'childhood friendship'. www.fanfiction.net/s/3241811/1/WaterWater, by Icor. Also for Final Fantasy 7. Cloud falls into the lifestream, and though all his memories are distorted and rotten, there are some things he knows without having to remember. Cloud/Aerith www.fanfiction.net/s/3540792/1/romantic_harlotRomantic Harlot by Secretbox. From Inuyasha. Sango and Kagome have a talk about love, and Sango watches as her beautiful friend shatters. www.fanfiction.net/s/2995546/1/Forget_Me_NotForget Me Not by Blue Ten, for Teen Titans. BBRaven. A side note, this guy writes the best Teen Titans fanfictions ever, and I really wish he would update his ongoing one. This one however is finished, and very very good. Takes place after the final episode 'Things change'. As the Titans face an outlandish new enemy, they find that new heroes have come forward and taken their place as the city's protectors. They are left to contemplate their place in the world, but Beast Boy won't let it end there. And, yes, a Twilight fanfiction as well. Well, two. Both are parodies. www.fanfiction.net/s/3139199/1/Jacob_Black_Buys_a_New_Pair_of_SocksJacob Black buys a new pair of socks. Just a regular day in Forks. No, really. www.fanfiction.net/s/4771823/1/Abridged_Twilight_BrunchTwilight Abridged, and yet...so like the book.

@slytherclaw: thanfiction, I remember that name from...fuck. Uh. I feel like a bad person saying this, but I also feel you have a right to know, being the one reccing out his fics...that guy caused several epic shitfests of drama and I have a link if you want to know about it, but if you'd rather not know that's okay too. Sorry to bring it up, but that is a name fraught with much wank and you ought to know what you're getting yourself into by bringing it up ^^;;;;;;;;; People still like his writing, and you know what they say about the best writers being mad...thanks for reminding me I still gotta read that fic though XDDDD; (P.S. I read the fic and I enjoyed it immensely, thnx for rec <3) SO UH ANYWAY I have lots of recs and I'll be sporadically updating here I've found them all again, cos some of them are pretty old by internet terms and have relocated and I need to find the new links. Yeah. Also I'm a lazy shit. First off, this isn't fic for any actual fandom; it's meta-fic, if you will. I just remembered how much I fucking love this brilliant piece of writing. It was written during the Potterdammerung (Deathly Hallows and the fallout of which. The leaked copies and spoiler wars, the LJ crash, the shitstorms, etc.) The Day The Music Died (And I Got Farked) by Sam Storyteller. It's a short little read that packs everything I love about fandom into 2k words, mostly referencing LJ fandom but omg this is golden. I have never before seen something quite capture the essence of fandom like this fic. Fucking read it. Joy is pure but fleeting, man. (Also, if Carverquest were a real series, I'd totally frikkin' read it. DUX/WEREWOLF KING FOREVAH) This guy also wrote a lot of awesome HP fic of various pairings and genres. He also wrote for a bunch of other fandoms (what I linked to was the HP section of his masterlist, the total list of fandoms is at the top of the page) but I'm most familiar with his HP stuff. Shyeah. Aaaand second rec before I flee into the night: Damned Demented Demons and the rest of the Demented'verse. HP/Supernatural crossover, taking place post-series for HP and in the fourth season and beyond for Supernatural. I actually haven't watched SPN yet but I've been so thoroughly spoiled by the internet in general that I knew enough to read this XD; No pairs except canon HP, action-adventure-y stuff. Absolutely lovely longfic. READ EET.

I read the fic and I enjoyed it immensely, thnx for rec <3) ....The only fandom I can think of where the majority of excellent writers aren't insane is Narnia. And, er... that's really only the Jill/Eustace and Polly/Digory writers (who, actually, might be a little wanky if you state that you're an atheist or whatever, as most of the really good Narnia writers that I've come across are pretty hardcore Christians - but the ones I've talked to are all very nice). (I mean, ohdeargod there are so many shipwars in my other fandoms... ...not that I don't crusade against Doctor/Rose, but I digress.) I actually found the fic through an app on my iPod (seriously, I was trying to download DH to read) and had no idea what it was. I read most of it backstage during a show that I assistant-stage-managed (aka helped "the Red Death" get in and out of costume and, er... nothing else for an hour; several shows per day, two days). I have no idea when I found it online, but I don't think I've ever paid any attention to the author himself. (I usually don't, with fanfiction. I'd really rather just enjoy the fics for what they are, rather than who wrote them. The exception is if a person I have previously known to be awesome writes it, or if the writer has written for two or more of my fandoms, especially when one of them is not anime. XD ...Also if said author calls Regulus Black "evil" for being a Slytherin in the fic or summary, but that's just me appreciating that JKR's characters have dimensions, and realising that the books themselves are written with a bias - and therefore wanting to see how old said author is, and possibly berate them for being so biased - especially if their fic is Regulus-centric. Yes. This has happened.. ...And having written a paper on why Regulus is awesome. I got a B, because I fail at intros and conclusions.)

I gave up on Harry Potter fandom a loooong time ago. I've got a beta profile on Perfect Imagination. I get a lot of crap. >.> You know, poorly written, adverb-abusing smut that ignores the original intentions of Jo Rowling, but whatever. I'm not in any way a purist, and a few HP slash pairings entice me dearly (Harry/Draco, anyone?) but I had a few friends at my last high school who were frequent fanfiction writers.
Picture this. High school AU. Emo!Harry. And mpreg. IN THE SAME. FIC.

EEEEEEEEE NARNIA YESSSSS. The Narnia fandom is WONDERFUL. There are so many wonderful writers, and almost no shipping wars. It's nice and peaceful. In fact...I can't remember if I told any of you this, but it's indirectly because of a Narnia fanfic author that I got hooked on FMA. This gal called elecktrum writes the most intense, emotional, beautiful, non-slashy Peter/Edmund epic brotherly love stories you've ever seen. She's like a Narnian Arakawa. It's completely and utterly HER fault that I got so addicted to bromance. And the very first thing I thought when I first started watching FMA was "Holy moley! Elecktrum could have written this story! Must...watch...more..." Not only is she amazing in her writing style and portraying epic brotherly love, but she researches her stuff so thoroughly and expands on Narnia's lore and history so well, it adds a whole new level of depth and richness to the Narnian world. Many Narnia fans consider her the reigning Queen of Narnia fic, and several other Narniafic authors have borrowed from her fanon universe. Read her fan fiction, and you will never look at this series of children's books the same way again. If you are at ALL familiar with Narnia, I DEMAND THAT YOU GO VISIT HER PROFILE NOW. IMMEDIATELY. OR I WILL READ TWILIGHT EXCERPTS TO YOU UNTIL YOU DO. (Just kidding, but still...I cannot recommend her more highly.) www.fanfiction.net/u/450594/elecktrum"Black Dwarves, Blue River", "Into the West", "They Also Serve" and "Thole" are some of her best works, and all of her one-shots are great too. I guarantee you will love her.

@tara: Did you know that Tom Felton ships Harry/Draco? Either that, or he's a massive troll. Possibly both. H/D was never really my thing - I'm more into ships where the characters were already friends first. There's a lot of interesting angles for the ship, but most fics ignore all the fun Issues (jealousy, competitiveness, that sorta hateboner thing they have there) and go straight to the leather pants. I'm not normally one to complain about leather pants, but really guys? <_< It's also probably because I couldn't friggin' stand Malfoy my first read-through of the first five books. I got to pitying him in the last two, and now that I'm older looking back I feel really bad for him...kid's entirely a product of his circumstances. Doesn't make what he does right, but it makes it sad. Anyway, now I'm pretty interested in his character post-series, oh yes there is potential there. The Damned Demented Demons fic I mentioned in my other post? Best post-series Draco I've ever read, omg love. His interactions with Harry are great - totally I-don't-want-to-like-you-dammit platonic, so no leather pants - but still awesome. Aside from Ron/Hermione, I never really card one way or another about HP ships. Throw something at me, I'll roll with it. I've been sold on Sirius/Remus before though, because that's completely stereotypical Crow (best friends, both of 'em geniuses, bromantic bachelors, subtext 'n shit, tragic happenings, doomed to failure from the start, etc.) Any thoughts on that pair? @slytherclaw: THIS IS ALL TRUE. Harry Potter fandom especially is known for its wtfery (Snapewives, anyone?) Just that this guy is one of the notorious HP/LoTR dramamongers. I recognized the name and story because he got destroyed when he posted on fanficrants a few years ago. Essentially, he's a con-artist - he made money off his fanworks and tricked his fans into giving him cash for various reasons. I kinda cringe at all the internet drama because I'm damn near certain the guy's psychotic (I mean that in the literal sense, not derogatory at all.) lol it's a good fic so I can't fault ya there. And yeah, most of the time I try to separate fic and author drama in my mind, and while that's nice in theory it doesn't always work out in practice. For one, I have trainwreck syndrome, and despite hating drama, if I scent drama, I HAVE to go and check it out, even if I hate myself for it afterward XD; And then it's also partially a defense mechanism - if they've got some sort of gross opinion, I'm not going to review their stuff because I don't want to risk having to actually TALK to them and their gross opinion, ew. If I really enjoy a fic, I go look at the author profile, look into their other stories, their favorites, that sorta thing. This has never led me wrong in FMA fandom - fuckery in FMA is louder, less subtle than the HP brand. In HP fandom, anyone can be batshit, even the best writers. But in FMA fandom I'm usually able to tell if I'll like the author/the rest of their writing very quickly, from the text and from author's notes and the like, and it's usually no great loss (the writers I don't like much based on their real-world attitudes in FMA fandom tend to not be very good writers, I've found, but perhaps that's me speaking from behind my shit-tinted glasses :B) xDDDDD Regulus fan I see? I think RAB, he is pretty cool guy. He trolls Voldemort and doesn't afraid of anything. (I like him too, character has a lot of untapped potential. Also I could easily be a Slytherin, if I weren't a Ravenclaw first and foremost. Though I'm really more of Ravenpuff: Soapbox hero like guitar hero!) it is one in the morning and this makes no sense sorry orz

GGAAAAH I'll jump into these epic conversations in a minute. ><;; *flails* BUT I HAVE TO TELL YOU ABOUT THIS FIC. NGE: Nobody Dies.This should be required reading for any Neon Genesis Evangelion fan. If I had to compare it to something, it would be like Rebuild of Evangelion in text form, with even less angst and a lot more badassery and shout outs. The basic plot is thus: The story operates off the basic premise of "What if Shinji and Asuka's mothers were still alive?" The answer is that some characters are much more stable psychologically (Shinji especially) while the others' personalities have done total one-eighties. Especially Rei. This fic has the scariest, most awesome Rei you will ever meet. Badass-ness and hilarity is everywhere. It also has a TV Tropes page. Go read it because I'm terrible at summarizing things. o3o;

FOR ANY DANNY PHANTOM FANS, I HAVE A REALLY GOOD FIC SERIES REC, BUT! It is forever unfinished, due to author existence failure. Complications, Exceptions, Hopes, and It's In The Genes by HiddenAuthor. HiddenAuthor was a fandom friend of mine when I was active in DP fandom, back in 2006-2007. He said that the only bad stories were the ones that were abandoned, and promised to never abandon ship himself; ironically, that's exactly what happened when Hidden became, well, hidden. He stopped answering messages, stopped posting to his ff.net and dA accounts, just vanished altogether, and since no one in fandom knew his real-life identity, no one knows what happened to him (as far as I've heard.) He's been gone for almost four years now. I know that he wouldn't have just left without saying anything if he could help it, so something must have happened...I just hope he's okay. These fics created an elaborate fanon that I still hold as canon in my head. For the first two fics, that's what really sets them apart, but Hopes is where his writing really took off and went from kickass awesome to friggin' BRILLIANCE. If memory holds, It's In The Genes is even better. I just went back and reread the first three (Complications, Exceptions, and Hopes, which can be read by themselves without It's In The Genes) and I'm debating with myself whether or not I should reread the fourth and yet again subject myself to eternal disappointment. It was after Hidden vanished that I started to drift away from DP fandom. There were other factors at play, of course - the series ending, the fandom quieting down. But I went on the rest of that year to watch Wolf's Rain, have a wild two-month fling with Good Omens fandom, and that October I fell in love with - you guessed it - FMA. Man, I'm getting all gross and nostalgic/depressed/happy tears at once. I may or may not have harbored an internet crush on this guy. I was fourteen and he was really nice and an amazing writer, so you can all just shut up. HIDDEN, know that wherever you are now, you're still missed, and your writing is still loved. Good karma in your general direction, wherever that may be! -salutes- GO READ HIS STUFF NAO YOU HAVE NO EXCUSE NOT TO
