Since we had a thread for movies, I thought one for music was also needed Here we can discuss our favorite bands, artists, songs, lyrics, etc. or discuss bands, artists, songs, lyrics, etc. we hate with a burning passion (or simply dislike). Music of any type or genre or language or whatever is welcome!

I've been finding a lot of bands/artists I just love or rediscovering past artists/bands I loved when I was younger recently.

P!nk is one of my favorite singers. I just love her voice and songs, haha.

I also really enjoy Vanessa Carlton's music. I have all three of her CD's and am rather looking forward to her fourth album.

Vienna Teng is fairly new to me, but of the music I've heard from her I really enjoy it. I find her songs simply beautiful <3

Ingrid Michaelson is another who I'm fairly new to. I found her music through the 'suggestions' bar on YouTube while listening to Vienna Teng, and have fallen in love with her voice, songs, and overall music <3

The Morning Of is the most recent. I was only introduced to them this weekend, while randomly browsing Songfacts.com ( I tend to do that when I'm bored :B) and the title of one of their songs caught my attention for some reason, so I looked them up on YouTube and now I love them so much <333

Honorable mention: Owl City. I'm not a super huge fan of OWl City, but I like a few songs (like maybe six or seven) and I find the guys voice nice and soothing, particular on stressful days. Plus, I find the lyrics to most of Owl City's songs to be charming and whimsical.

As for other songs, I really enjoy 'Kaze ni Naru' from 'The Cat Returns.' I absolutely adore 'Paper Thin Hymn' by Anberlin, and I'm fond of 'The Rhythm of Love' By Plain White T's. And I think it goes without saying, but I lovelovelove the majority of FMA's music, especially openings/endings, but I would explode if I had to pick any favorites.

In regards to other anime openings/endings, I have loads of favorites from Inuyasha. The music is probably one of my favorite things about the series, even if I'm not that big a fan of it anymore. 'Fukai Mori' was one of my favorites, along with 'Dearest' if I remember correctly. *has not heard them in forever*

I also have favorites from Digimon as well. The original Japanese openings/endings were pretty decent, like 'Keep on' and 'Butterfly' from season one, and the evolution themes 'Brave Heart' (season 1) and 'Break Up!' (season 2) were rather nice as well. I can't say anything about the music from the other season though, as I haven't heard any of them except for 'Biggest Dreamer' from season 3. Of course, I'm also a bit fond of some of the English songs from Digimon, though they're a bit more of the ear worm and guilty pleasure variety.

I haven't watched the entirety of this anime, but I have listened to the music, and find the songs from Wolf's Rain to be very enjoyable. 'Gravity' is probably my favorite.

Anyways, I'll be back with links to some of these songs later, but for now I have to get back to my Gate Babies exchange gifts.

I like... Tom Milsom, Hank Green, Charlie McDonnell, Alex Day, ALL CAPS, Ministry of Magic, the Parselmouths, the Remus Lupins (even if they are a bit egalitarian for my tastes...), Chameleon Circuit, Super Junior, Marie-Mai, and a few Japanese artists. (Honestly, I'll listen to any J-Pop and most likely like it).

I honestly don't listen to any mainstream music - well, not any recent. I'll admit to having some '90s pop and some random emo/alternative/whatever you want to call it on my iTunes. I also really love Christina Aguilera and My Chemical Romance - just... not as much as any of those mentioned above.
I also listen to a lot of Wizard Rock as I am a major Potternerd, and some Time Lord Rock, as I'm also a fairly big Whovian (though some of the fandom, admittedly, irritates me with their Rose love. Please, she's a chav and a Mary Sue and an idiot and has no soul. ...I'm a Doctor/Romana shipper, obviously. XD).
Honestly, I admit that I was more exited over Doctor Who cosplayers at Otakon than Austria cosplayers (fff. I found THREE. I mean, Austria's like my second favourite character, and he doesn't get much love, which makes me sadface). (BUT THERE WAS AN ELEVENTH DOCTOR COSPLAYER THAT LOOKED LIKE MATT SMITH.)

...Back on topic.
Really, my main thing with music is that I love geeky stuff and foreign stuff. It's not like I dislike all mainstream, but for me to like anything that isn't geeky or foreign, they've got to have one hell of a voice/band.

(...My Chemical Romance technically counts as geeky. Gerard has a comic book series. No not-geek would do that.)

I have too many favorites to list...! xD

I grew up on classic rock. Grateful Dead, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, The Who, Rolling Stones, Aerosmith, Janice Joplin, Heart, Pat Benetar, ZZ Top, Alice Cooper, Black Sabbath, Jimmy Buffet, I loved 'em all. Aerosmith was the first band I ever saw in concert at age 13. I knew nothing about modern music. Once at a sleep-over a friend quizzed me on like fifty of the "hottest" songs. I knew two of them. xD I still love classic rock.

I briefly got into the Spice Girls and Hansen when they were big. (I still listen to my Hansen music sometimes. x3 I have their music on tape, before CDs...them was the days.) In high school I got into alternative rock and newer stuff. Nickelback, the Fray, Goo Goo Dolls, Savage Garden, etc. Around 11th grade I discovered the Indigo Girls and fell in-fucking-LOVE. They're probably my favorite band and still are. <333 My favorite (newish) male band is Better Than Ezra. They're not very well known, but they rock. And I like Within Temptation a lot when I'm a darkfic mood.

I'm also into country music. Poppy as she might be, I love Taylor Swift. She's so cute and her music makes me happy. =3 Carrie Underwood rocks, Rodney Atkins is pretty awesome, Braid Paisley, Luke Bryant, etc etc. When it comes to country I tend to go by the song rather than by artist, so I have like fifty different country artists on my iPod, with a couple songs each.

And I luuuuurve Adam Lambert. <33 And (and I'm ashamed to say this) Katy Perry tends to worm her way into my head. I want to hate her music, but if I hear one of her songs I inevitably find it stuck in my head later. GET OUT OF MY MIND, KATY. I DON'T WANT YOU HERE. STOP WAKING UP IN VEGAS. STOP IT.

Still Alive. Never played Portal, but I love that song. xD (Anyway this cake is great~)

Honestly, I just love music in general. Slow, fast, soft, harsh, angry, sad, happy, calm, Japanese, English, oldies, mainstream, indie, whatever. If the lyrics speak to me at all or the beat is fun, I'll probably like it. The only music I truly cannot stand is hip-hop or rap. Those make me want to smack myself with a 2x4 until my ears bleed.

Honestly, I like a little bit of everything. Rap is usually the only exception, but even then I like a couple songs. I love 3 Doors Down so so so much, and the Goo Goo Dolls. Like the Fray too, Bob Dylan, Nickelback, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Flyleaf, Paramore, Colbie Calliat, Pink, The Offspring, Elton John...and a lot more I can't think of.

FFFS HOW COULD I FORGET ADAM LAMBERT?! I love his music! I found him through an artist on DeviantArt, who had a piece titled after his song 'Sleepwalker.' S'yeah I love his music! Another band I forgot is The Script. I love their music too. 'Nothing' is one of my favorites, along with 'Science and Faith,' If I am recalling the title correctly.

I'm a bit fond of the The Fray as well. I really like their song 'Vienna.'


And it's okay Puzzle, I'm the same with Katy D: I want to hate her music too, but ljdsljhks they're catchy as hell and refuse to leave my head! So I drown them out with other music :3

Yay, Adam Lambert! He's awesome. <3 A friend of mine is a huge fan of his and she's the one who got me into him. I've never heard the Script before, I may have to check them out. =3

I don't have many favorite artists...mostly just particular songs and such. My dad listens to a lot of classic rock, so I grew up on that, and I really like it. I can't name any favorites, though, because I either don't remember their names or can't choose.

Other artists...Plain White T's, Suzanne Vega, even some Taylor Swift because her songs are catchy. Also, a looot of musical theater.

About half my iPod contains Japanese music, because I'm just a big freakin' otaku and unafraid to admit it. xP Openings from FMA, (Again ftw) of course, along with a whole bunch of other anime. This also includes Vocaloid, which I am extremely geeky for liking. My current favorite is 'Dear You' from Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni, which is not on iTunes and makes me sad.

I could list all my favorite bands and singers, but then I'd be here all day.

Personally, I like almost everything. Rock, Pop, Metal, Classical, Jazz, Country, Hell there are even a few rap and hip-hop songs I enjoy.
