If I weren't, why would I have this on my computer?:  Seriously, though, I love Hetalia. I have... 500MB of Hetalia fanart, fanfic, and video on my iMac, and I used to RP Belgium, Hungary, and Vietnam. (I say "used to" because the boards I RPed on died, and I have no time to join another). I also cosplayed Hungary for Otakon last year. So, yeah. The answer is yes. |

In other news, I'm making a Canada cosplay for Supercon. It's going to be fun. =D I've got my props and hoodie done, all I really have left to do for it is make the wig, which I'd probably have done by now too if the first two base wigs I ordered didn't turn out to be out of stock. >.< What's with suddenly everyone needing to buy up all the affordable blond wavy wigs, huh?!

I lost count of the Canada cosplayers I saw at Otakon. It made fan panels hilarious.
Ah, I should get off my bum and edit/upload that fan panel video from Otakon already. It was hilarious and PLUTO MISSED IT.

Speaking of, my Canada wig came today~ It's really thick...which is awesome, because the last blond wig I got was very thin on top and looked kind of sad. This one fluffs up very nicely.

I caught this series as a con last year and it's slowly been eating my brain ever since. And I enjoy it to the nth degree. After I finish my next two Kingdom Hearts cosplays, I'm going as Hungary. o3o It'll be nice to have a cosplay I don't have to wear a wig for...

It's the sort of humor I like. Kind of tongue-in-cheek, and intelligent. Clever wordplay especially amuses me, and that series has a ton of it (in the manga anyway, I've only seen maybe five episodes of the anime so I can't speak much for it.) Plus I find poking fun at my own stereotypes amusing, so I love the strips with America (and Italy, because even though I'm not Italian, I'm convinced I was in a past life or something, because I act so Italian sometimes. xD) because I see myself in both of them and can go, "yup, sounds like me...xD" I imagine other people enjoy a good laugh at their own cultures too. It's a somewhat exaggerated manga, as well, so people probably love to cosplay for it because when they're 'in-character' they can ham it up and be silly and still be totally IC. (That's the reason I'm cosplaying as one for a con this year. I love a good excuse to be silly.) Plus there are so many different appearances and personalities, it's easy to find a character who you identify with.
And, well, I do like the fanservice, I think it's funny. I don't see enjoying that aspect of it as a bad thing. The shipwars in fandom cause a lot of wank, but I just stay out of those the same way I stayed out of the FMA shipwars.
I can understand why any of the above would actually turn a person off from the series (sometimes the humor can be offensive since it does stereotype, if someone doesn't like BL, if you prefer serious plots, etc.) but for me, it's what I enjoy. I'm weird. xD
