The red and black contrast hurts people's eyes and the blue and gray the forum came with is kind of boring. Clearly, we need a color scheme that is more interesting, but not eye-hurting.
(Edited because I realized how selfish I was sounding. ^^;;) Colors and designs/styles are open for debate. What do you guys feel is FMA-ish? Blue and gold? Black/red/silver? Red and white? Shades of blue all over? Should we have a banner? GIVE US YOUR SUGGESTIONS. <3

Personally, lighter backgrounds are more prone to making my eyes sore than darker ones.
That being said, I like the combination of black, red, and silver best for FMA.

^ A black or charcoal background with light gray/silver text maybe? I think it was specifically the bright red on black that hurt another member's eyes, so gray may work.

I agree with PuzzleChick. I think that the red/silver/black thing would accommodate everyone nicely. Black background with silver writting (or vice versa), with red border lines, or something.  |

What do you guys think of this layout: fmatestforum.proboards.com/index.cgi (Just a test forum, don't need to sign up or anything. xD Figured a test forum is better than fussing with this one and screwing it up permanently somehow.) I made the background more charcoal just in case black is too glaring, but there are a few shades of gray darker that I could use, too, in case it looks too light. If the background with the red streaks is too busy I can make it just plain black and still keep the red header bars. In the test thread you can see an example of how the links and spoilers will look and the text examples. The text can be made larger I'm pretty sure, if you guys prefer. Also, there are some lighter silvers the text could be if you think the plain text is too dark. Yay? Nay? Suggestions? =3 |

^Ooh, I love it! :> I really like the streaky red and black, I think it looks nice xD I think the text could be made a bit bigger though; while I don't have to squint or get up close to see it or anything I find it a bit too small, personally.
But overall I like it; it looks nice. I certainly wouldn't complain if this was the new layout.

EDIT: Just got an idea? What about having a flamel or a transmutation circle on the background? Like, in a darker grey than the text but not quite black... or something.

All right! Sometime this week I'll make a watermark for it. x3 (Either a flamel or circle depending on which one I can find the largest design of. xD) Edit: Check out the test forum. fmatestforum.proboards.com/index.cgi Something like that look good to you guys? It's not perfectly centered because it sort of tiles itself and it'll only look perfectly centered to someone with exactly a 1100 px wide screen. >.< |
