Back in late 2008 when I found TS (but only lurked), everyone was comparing Edward Cullen to Ed. I was all "WHO IS THIS MIDGET?!" I think that what drew me to FMA, the fact that Ed was short ( I'm short too).
So the end of the year is Summer for us in Australia, so with nothing better to do, I spent the summer nights watching FMA online. Loved it right away, and then once the club house first got started I joined and yeah... 2 years later here I am!
Oh! Edward was also my first ever crush on a blonde! I was over him in like 2 seconds when I saw Roy but yeah.

My best friend wanted to get me into anime but I never had an interest. One day, we were at the movies and we saw a trailer for the Death Note Live Action. She was ecstatic and I thought it looked interesting so she made me watch Death Note and I enjoyed it. Later, she texted me and said "If you liked Death Note, you might like Fullmetal Alchemist." So I looked it up and devoured the friggin' first series. Actually, the only full episode that was on youtube was the first, so I accidentally ended up watching two episodes of Brotherhood without realizing it. I had to watch the rest of the series on Megavideo, which cuts you off after 72 minutes. There I was, ten o'clock at night, watching the last episode and right before Al did the transmutation that would bring Ed back to life, I got cut off. Why are all good Animes streamed from MegaVideo and nowhere else, I swear. /rant. The ironic thing is, she hadn't finished the series yet and by getting me into it, I got her back into it and we got obsessed together. She's moved on to Trigun now I am alone.

I first heard of it in High School when I joined the Anime Club (which I quit 1 month later because the other members were annoying). The first volume of the manga was available at the library and I actually did take it out at one point, but I never got around to reading it.
Anyway, one day a few years later, I was at Barnes and Noble looking at the manga section, and I saw about twenty volumes of Fullmetal Alchemist. I decided to give it a shot, but since I didn't have the money to buy any of them, I just read the first volume right there in the store.
After that, even time I went back to Barnes, I'd sit there and read one or two volumes until I'd read them all, then I read the chapters available online. Around that time I watched the first anime, and now I've got the first 27 episodes of Brotherhood off of itunes.
