I WILL READ STUFF WHEN I AM IN FULL POSSESSION OF MY BRAIN CELLS. Maybe tomorrow, but wait NO I CAN'T I NEED TO NANO SPRINT ARGH. Don't mind me as I am incoherent. BUT! I am here to share stuff! First off, an excellent Royai UST fic tha I shared aaaaages ago and am now sharing again: Another Military Party. Also, fanart for which! And also some other wonderful arts, including more Royai and some Bradley/WaifuTHEN! This isn't really exclusive to this thread, as it is relevant to everything and I will eventually post it elsewhere in the Club, but the 2011 FMA manga calendar is EXCELLENT (and I wantwantwant it) and has an additional exclusive picture with implied EdWin: Ed's sent Winry pictures of his travels. Omg I love this so much. I love that Ed gets to finally be *happy*, and he's such an adorkably lovable adult. Is it pathetic that I'm so so happy that he gets to be happy? Maybe, but I don't care. It's adorable and I love that. I have decided I really really like the manga ending <3 (I got that pic from here, which has pics for all the other months too. Beware, they are BIG images and take a while to load!) |

It was actually inspired by a tiny debate I stumbled across that went something along the lines of: "Ed belongs with Winry!" and then others were like "OMG NO HE HAS TO STAY WITH AL FOREVAH!" And it's bugged me ever since. So I guess this is my way of settling it.  Seriously...why can't he love and belong and stay with both? Ed could never choose between them! I know some of you have already seen it, but I thought I'd post it anyway. The first time I heard this song, my mind immediately went to Ed and Winry and how un-typical their love story is for a pair of teenagers. If there's one thing I adore about it, it's that it's more than hormones and "hey, we're both good-looking! It MUST be Twoo Wuv! Let's randomly hook up!" And though some might see it as the usual cliche of best-friends-becoming-more, Arakawa's crafted it in such a thoughtful, refreshing way that the "cliche" label couldn't be farther from the truth. There's so many different facets to it. Yes, she throws wrenches at him and they bicker a lot, and he has to recite the periodic table to calm himself down when he thinks of her... xD And it's adorable and hilarious and deliciously awkward...but there's so much more underneath all that. When he burns down the past in the name of making a future, she will salvage the memories worth keeping. When he has no home and no light to pierce the darkness, she will give him hers. When he won't listen to reason, she will knock some sense into him. When he leaves, she will wait for his return. When he stumbles, she will hold him steady. When he breaks, she will fix it and forge it stronger. When he refuses to cry, she will wash his pain in her own tears. When he cannot love himself, she will. And when he finally conquers the odds, she will be there to banish the last lingering shadow from his heart and whisper: "You're free." (And when he offers her half his life, she will give him ALL of hers. And then they will get married and make beautiful EdWin babies and live HAPPILY EVER AFTER!! dearheart: It took me a while to get used to it and how much fanon it destroyed, I guess, but I do love the manga ending. I always loved that Ed gets to be a daddy. I can see him being absolutely terrified of messing up, but winding up being this awesome Hughes-channeling dad. Some people get all whiny about the they-all-get-married-and-have-bebehs trope, and I can see that in some cases, but not here - I think deep down Ed would love a chance to start the cycle anew, and be the dad his dad never was for him. BUT. I still see potential issues in the manga ending (how Ed copes without alchemy, how it changes his relationship with Al, would he ever be content with the white-picket-fence) and I'm actually really glad those were left untouched, because it means we get to play with them. When I finally get around to writing it, I have this epic nextgen ADVENTURRRRE fic I will have to share. YES. BABBLING AND SELF PROMOTION YES. fffff, I somehow managed to miss that AMV...that's one of my favorite songs because I'm actually a hopeless romantic, and I kept saying LOLOLOL I WILL WATCH IT and then I NEVER DID :/ SO I JUST WATCHED IT NOW. YOU DUN GOOD. Honest-to-god got big wibbly tears in my eyes with the light in the window scene, Ed holding onto Winry's wrench, I will always learn from my mistakes, and Winry still grasping for his hand as he's leaving in the aftermath of the Scar fiasco. (Brief sidenote: I lovelovelove how Arakawa handled the scene with Winry and the gun. I love that it's not all "lololol she's a girl she shouldn't have to hurt people" because look at friggin' Olivier and Hawkeye - even ED has difficulty with guns, and he's this big tough guy who acts so much stronger than he really feels. It's not that the girl is weak, it's that what she does is so much better. I absolutely adored him telling her that her hands weren't meant to kill people, they were meant to save them. That...migtha been when I started shipping 'em, that and Winry looking at his back and then thinking on the train that she had been in love with him from a long time ago. I told you I'm a hopeless romantic XD;) And also I've shared it before but I absolutely have to share it again, one of my favorite results from the one sentence meme from the other year: There is a light in the window that never goes out.

IMO, that chick is either a sarcastic troll (seen my fair share of them--she could be parodying those fans that deny EdWin as canon in the manga) or just beyond anything you could say to reason with her. Don't sweat it. <3 Comfort yourself in knowing that, yes, EdWin IS canon and you've got an abundant amount of animated, Arakawa-approved OTP content for your heart's desire. Unlike a lot of other fans who have to deal with fan-art and unintentional subtext to validate their OTP as anything other than delusion. I can kind of understand where they're coming from as far as the canon-Nazi thing--but I don't think you're a canon Nazi. ^-^ I think that you just really love EdWin, which is totally awesome-sauce. It's obviously there. People who try to deny it are just bitter about it for whatever reason, be it they were bullied by canon Nazis or they just don't like the pairing. Hell, it's not MY cup of tea, but that doesn't mean I have the authority to try and make everyone think like me. So yeah. Don't let it get to you much. <3 And....here, why not.  |

Fffs wow, for some reason shipping seems to have gotten intense lately :I Could just be me though. Honestly I hate the kind of shippers that force their opinions down their throat, or bash and insult fans of pairings they don't personally like. I don't care what they ship, but I just hate them. I also hate it when people act like they know the creator personally and that they (the creators) ooooobviously hates ____x____ (even if its canon) or that the creators hate slash or crack pairings or whatever.
