it's actually really easy once you get used to it! The basics: So there's your dashboard. Your dash shows all the updates of all the blogs you're following. If you follow a blog - like you went and did for all of ours - anything we post shows up on your dash. With those posts, you can "like" them - equivalent to a favorite on deviantART - and/or you can reblog it. Reblog just means that you're reposting it on your own tumblr. When reblogging, you can add text/pictures/whatever.

I've never had a tumblr before, how exactly do they work?

^ Tumblr is a blog site that was originally used mostly by hipsters but then fandom invaded and really changed how it's used (for the better, I think.)

On your tumblog, you can either make a new post (text, photo, audio, video) or you can reblog an existing post from another tumblr. When you reblog, you're reposting it on your own tumblog; you can add text/pictures/whatever to a reblogged post. Some posts have been reblogged hundreds of thousands of times - I'm really fascinated by mass media and how it's used to communicate ideas across the world through pop culture, so tumblr is pretty much the coolest thing ever invented, to me XD;

When you make a tumblr account, you have the option of following people. If you follow a blog, all of that blog's posts show up on your dashboard. Your dashboard is an aggregate of all the updates of all the tumblrs you follow. From your dashboard you can choose to reblog any of these posts and/or "like" a post. If you like a post, you're essentially bookmarking it; you can access all your liked posts from your dashboard.

Aaaaand those are the basics, in a little more detail! People use tumblr for all sorts of things and it's amazing how quickly ideas spread through reblogging. There's a HUGE amount of information out there - people use tumblr for fandom, for photography, for news stories, for activism, for memes...you can really do whatever you want. There's so much potential.

I, of course, use mine to post fandoms and memes and cats :B
